It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

By the time she was out her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.
